A Course in Miracles (ACIM) is a spiritual book that has sold more than three million copies since it was first published in 1976. It is now recognized as one of the most influential spiritual texts of modern times. It has achieved a scriptural status among many readers and is widely taught. Originally taught by Helen Schucman, a Columbia University psychology professor, ACIM is a comprehensive and profound system of thought based on forgiveness and the recognition that peace simply is.

Its language is extraordinarily rich, poetic and sometimes written in blank verse. Its thought system combines spiritual inspiration with deep psychological understanding of such phenomena as belief systems, defense mechanisms, and perception and identity. This combination of intellectual and experiential approaches is unique in the world of contemporary spirituality. It is no wonder that some have compared it to the great literature of the world, while others have found it more challenging to read than other religious books.

When it was first introduced to the public, ACIM was considered to be an esoteric text. The New York Times wrote that it was “a kind of esoteric bible that has gone mainstream.” It has become the favored spiritual text of millions, and has had a huge influence on the rapidly growing segment of our society that self-identifies as "spiritual but not religious."

A Course in Miracles is Acim online unique among all spiritual teachings in that it is both philosophically profound and highly practical. Its goal is the undoing of the illusion of separation in all its forms, and it teaches a completely different way of forgiving that leads to healing and freedom. It also emphasizes the importance of recognizing that God is Love and that love is all that truly exists.

The first part of the Course is called the Text, and it is here that its thought system first enters our minds. The Course's metaphysics are closer to Eastern mysticism than traditional Western religion, and its theology is non-denominational. It directly challenges significant elements of contemporary Christianity, including the doctrines of sin and crucifixion.

The next section of the Course is the Workbook, which contains daily meditations based on forgiveness and the recognition that peace is all there is. Its goal is the removal of obstacles that prevent us from experiencing the joy and abundance that are our natural inheritance. The Workbook lessons are short and do not require a lot of time to complete, but they will challenge our assumptions about what is possible and what is true. These lessons are an essential part of the process of learning to forgive. They are a profoundly effective means for awakening to the Love that is our natural inheritance. They can be learned from a variety of sources, and you can study them at a pace that feels right for you. This may mean reading a chapter or a page each day, or maybe even a whole chapter at once.
